Civil Airfield Gruibingen Nortel (EDSO)
by Eckard • 2025-09-21 15:26:27 UTC
Visited the Rote-Wurst-Fly-in again today. Always impressive how the flying club hosts this event three times a year with such dedication. No landing fee and good food at this event. The airfield is a bit tricky: upsloping runway when landing RWY 25, and when landing RWY 07 a hill obstructs the view of the runway on base leg.
Civil Airfield Albstadt Degerfeld (EDSA)
by Eckard • 2025-09-20 08:02:34 UTC
EDSA Albstadt-Degerfeld has a field elevation of 2,900 ft, making it one of the highest airfields in southern Germany. Operations without an aerodrome supervisor (Fliegen ohne Betriebsleiter) are now possible there. PPR can be requested fairly easily via V-Tower; this tool can also be used to log landings. Payment via AEROPS is possible. Fuel: Super+ (2.40 €) and Avgas available. Landing fee 8.00 € for Aquila. Caution: RWY 27 has a significant downslope on the first half of the runway; avoid a high or fast approach. The on-field restaurant is open Thursday to Sunday. In the afternoon the kitchen is closed until 17:00, but coffee, cake, and drinks are available during that time.
Airport Bamberg Breitenau (EDQA)

Landed at Bamberg on Sunday in a DR400. Right-hand traffic pattern, very extended, for landing runway 21. Parked on the grass parking area to the right of the taxiway. Almost everything here seems to have been newly built in recent years. Operations building with an Italian restaurant (tasty) and a tower, four large hangars—everything top-notch. A large regional automotive supplier apparently helped make everything new and spacious. Friendly AFIS officer and standard landing fees (just under €12) make a return visit to the airfield close to Bamberg likely. When the weather cooperates, the club on the field is active and PPR is no problem.
Airport Hof Plauen (EDQM)

25-03-10 relaxed airfield, control zone not always active, very reasonable landing fees and fuel prices. Gasthof Grüner Baum was unfortunately closed for 2 weeks. Stay at Untreu-See was very relaxing, and the walk back to the airfield (approx. 4 km) went partly directly along the road, but okay due to little traffic.
Civil Airfield Besancon Thise (LFSA)
by Eckard • 2025-08-25 12:24:20 UTC
Landed there on Friday in an Aquila. As usual, no one answered on the radio. Therefore check the windsock and determine the runway direction yourself. LFSA is a grass field. The runway is in good condition. Runway 24 worked for us. The right (northern) runway is for powered aircraft. Caution: the adjacent taxiway is much more clearly marked. Two very friendly people were in the clubhouse and sold us SP98 (€1.92/l) and called a taxi. The two hangars at the field are impressive in size. In total, five clubs are active at the field, but we saw no movements. No landing fees are charged. Overall, a nice field worth coming back to.
Civil Airfield Dessau (EDAD)

Landing fee + 1 overnight for 750 kg: €13.72. Parking on the grass area in front of the tower. Some parachute operations, otherwise rather quiet. On the ground floor there is a vending machine with drinks and snacks. About 25 minutes on foot to the Junkers-Museum (worth seeing), €8 admission. There are at least two bus lines on this street, running roughly hourly at different times. Taxi to the city center approx. €17–20. We stayed centrally at the BB-Hotel. Single room €55 + €13 breakfast on request. The hotel is relatively new. From there, both the Bauhaus-Museum and the market square can be reached on foot in a few minutes. There are various restaurants there. The museum is open 10:00–17:00, €10 admission.
Civil Airfield Neumarkt/Opf. (EDPO)
by Eckard • 2025-08-25 11:50:15 UTC
Flew to Neumarkt/Opf on 30 Oct. Approach only from the west, departure only to the west, because there is a hospital east of the field. Landing fee €12 (Aquila). You can walk to the city center in 10–15 minutes; it’s quite nice there. Did not try the on-field restaurant(s).
Civil Airfield Worms (EDFV)
by Eckard • 2025-08-25 11:50:15 UTC
On a public holiday, landed there again after many years in a Super-Dimona, with a straight-in from the east. Quite a lot of traffic in the circuit. Moderate landing fees (€6.60). Parked on grass. The restaurant has an extensive menu and the food was good. On departure, some queue at the holding point due to heavy traffic.
Civil Airfield Idar Oberstein/Goettschied (EDRG)
by Eckard • 2025-08-25 11:50:15 UTC
Visited yesterday with a SuperDimona. The runway has pronounced undulations. The meat (Sierra and Romeo, preordered via radio), grilled over an open fire, was excellent and worth its price. The garden, the sanitary facilities, and more have been refurbished and make a very good impression. Landing fee €5. Unfortunately, one star deducted due to the runway condition.
Civil Airfield Leutkirch Unterzeil (EDNL)
by Eckard • 2025-08-25 11:50:15 UTC
Today flew to Leutkirch on the spur of the moment in a DR400. Officially PPR in the winter months, but the frequency was quite busy; our landing request was approved. The field is relatively easy to fly into; only the base leg is quite short. Landing fee €13. Some Swiss pilots also seem to use this field regularly. Probably too cold for the skydivers ;-) In the conservatory there were coffee and cake and also some food (didn’t try it). Recommended airfield in a beautiful region.
Civil Airfield Vilshofen (EDMV)
by Eckard • 2025-08-25 11:50:15 UTC
Beautifully situated airfield right on the Donau. The restaurant had the outdoor terrace open, which was very busy. Extensive menu and moderate prices. Landing fee (750 kg) €7.50. Avgas approx. €2.20. We’ll gladly return.
Civil Airfield Tannheim (EDMT)
by Eckard • 2025-08-25 11:50:14 UTC
Beautiful airfield, directly adjacent to the Memmingen CTR. Landing fee €8 (< 1,000 kg). Restaurant with Italian cuisine and fair prices. On takeoff, however, the runway edge markers are not visible (they’re only concrete slabs); only the centerline marking makes things clear.
Civil Airfield Michelstadt/Odw. (EDFO)
by Eckard • 2025-08-25 11:45:59 UTC
Landing fee €10 for up to 3 landings per day, regardless of MTOW. The airfield is challenging to approach (especially from the west), with lee turbulence in southerly wind; the runway has a downhill gradient from midfield.
Civil Airfield Gmunden Laakirchen (LOLU)
by Eckard • 2025-08-22 16:04:42 UTC
Landed there on 30.6.25 with Aquila. Short space with a slope available in the first part of the rwy 26. Mogas 1.94€/l. Overnight parking 7€. Friendly flight manager. Restaurant available but not used. Tram runs from Neuhub station to the center of Gmunden.
Civil Airfield Erbach (EDNE)
by Eckard • 2024-05-03 00:00:00 UTC
Visited the fly-in there on May 1. There was a lot of traffic at the airfield, but thanks to disciplined position reports from the pilots everything was fine. Very well-maintained airfield. There were even seats reserved on the terrace for pilots.
Civil Airfield Oppenheim (EDGP)
by Eckard • 2021-05-16 00:00:00 UTC
The field is only 100 m from the Rhein. In summer there is also a nice swimming option with a small sandy beach. There are two parallel runways. Powered aircraft use the western side. The (first) landing is free of charge. Tall trees at both runway ends, but the field is long enough.
