Pilot Comments for EDNL
Eckard
Today flew to Leutkirch on the spur of the moment in a DR400. Officially PPR in the winter months, but the frequency was quite busy; our landing request was approved. The field is relatively easy to fly into; only the base leg is quite short. Landing fee €13. Some Swiss pilots also seem to use this field regularly. Probably too cold for the skydivers ;-) In the conservatory there were coffee and cake and also some food (didn’t try it). Recommended airfield in a beautiful region.

Was at Leutkirch as FI on a training flight. Everything easy, relaxed, and friendly. Be aware of parachute operations and the jump aircraft. Parking and taxiing on grass. For Jetprop and jet, there is asphalt parking and backtracking on the runway. Good restaurant with good opening hours.

Leutkirch (EDNL) is a well-equipped airfield with modern infrastructure, including Avgas, Mogas (Super Plus), and Jet A1 fuel available. The asphalt runway allows for year-round operations. The airfield is generally easy to approach, though the base leg can be short, and there is frequent parachuting activity; pilots should be alert for parachutists and the drop aircraft, which may enter final directly. In winter months, PPR is required but easily arranged by radio or online/phone. Customs clearance is available with advance notice.
The on-field restaurant operates seven days a week and receives consistently positive feedback for food and service, with a terrace overlooking the apron. Facilities include WiFi in the tower, toilets in the main building, and app2drive rental cars; other ground transport options are limited. Parking is available on grass near the restaurant.
Landing fees are moderate. Example: landing and customs about €30; another example: landing about €20. After multiple landings, fees may be reduced. There may be a surcharge for late handling.
The airfield is suitable as a stopover en route to the Alps or Bodensee region and offers a friendly atmosphere with professional flight service. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for operational details.
