The field is only 100 m from the Rhein. In summer there is also a nice swimming option with a small sandy beach. There are two parallel runways. Powered aircraft use the western side. The (first) landing is free of charge. Tall trees at both runway ends, but the field is long enough.

PPR is required and can be handled easily online via V-Tower. The airfield features over 1000 meters of well-maintained grass runway, with two parallel strips; powered aircraft use the western side. High trees are present at both runway ends, but the length is sufficient for safe operations. The first landing is free of charge for visitors; no fee or donation is requested for the initial arrival. Example: landing fee about €10. The atmosphere is welcoming, with friendly club members and a relaxed environment.
Facilities include a clubhouse offering coffee, cake, and simple hot meals at reasonable prices, and a small kitchen for snacks. The airfield sits directly beside the river Rhine—100–150 meters from the bank—with opportunities for swimming at a sandy beach and pleasant riverside walks. The old town of Oppenheim is within walking distance, featuring historic sites and local restaurants.
Sailplane activity is significant; powered aircraft must use the designated runway side and remain vigilant for gliders. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
