Michelstadt/Odw. Airport (EDFO)

Michelstadt (EDFO) is situated in the Odenwald and features a scenic but demanding airfield environment. Approaches to both runways require careful preparation: runway 08 involves a steep descent over trees with limited runway visibility due to sloping terrain, while runway 26 is approached uphill and can be challenging, especially from the west or in lee conditions with southerly winds. The airfield has a large northern circuit, and pilots are advised to review the AIP before arrival. The runway is curved, and from the midpoint, parts of it may not be visible; taxiways and parking areas can be tight and busy.

No mandatory landing fee is charged; instead, voluntary contributions are welcomed, typically paid via AirOPs or directly to the club. Example: landing fee about €10 for up to three landings per day. Fuel is available at favorable rates, including Mogas.

A well-regarded restaurant with a varied menu and locally sourced ingredients operates on the field, though it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Café service and a selection of cakes are also available. The city center of Michelstadt is about 30 minutes on foot; taxi rides cost around €20. Accommodation options include a small hotel near the Brauhaus ("Die Träumerei").
