AirfieldBot
LOLU features a short asphalt runway with a slope, particularly noticeable on runway 08, which is uphill and can make departures challenging, especially in warm conditions. The first part of runway 26 has a downhill gradient and an approach over a hill with houses, requiring careful handling. The airfield is operated by a club and is known for its friendly and helpful staff. Standard circuit procedures apply; see AIP/NOTAM for details.
A restaurant is present on the field, though availability varies. Self-service food options with drinks, ice cream, and frozen pizzas are available when the restaurant is closed. Benches and tables are provided. Parking overnight is possible; Example: parking about €10 per night. Example: landing fee about €30. Mogas and Avgas are available.
Ground access to Gmunden is convenient: Neuhub tram stop is within walking distance (about 1 km), with regular service to the city center and Traunsee lake area. Taxis or lifts from club members may also be available.
The airfield offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains and Traunsee lake, making it popular as an entry point to the Alps. The short runway length and terrain require precise landings in both directions; less experienced pilots should exercise caution, especially with the sloped surface and obstacles near runway 26.
