Civil Airfield Vilshofen (EDMV)

Vilshofen (EDMV) is situated directly alongside the Danube, offering a scenic and straightforward approach with a long asphalt runway and PAPI. The airfield is known for its friendly and professional staff, though pilots are expected to adhere closely to the circuit, especially for noise abatement; instructions from the tower regarding circuit discipline are common, particularly on busy weekends. Noise-sensitive areas require maintaining altitude over the river during approach and departure, and the AIP provides relevant guidance.

The on-field restaurant is highly regarded for its quality and terrace views of the city and river. The city center is easily accessible on foot in 7–15 minutes, with additional attractions such as a medieval church and the Schweiklberg monastery nearby. Accommodation options include an apartment above the restaurant and several hotels within walking distance; tower staff can assist with lodging recommendations. Avgas is available via BP card at a self-service pump near taxiway B; payment by card in the tower is possible. Customs clearance from Switzerland is possible with two hours' advance notice using a form available on the official website. Toilets are generally available in the restaurant when open; however, access may be restricted if the restaurant is closed.
