Hausen Am Albis Airport (LSZN)

by Chris2025-04-19 00:00:00 UTC

Landed at Hausen am Albis on 19.04.2025 in a Tecnam P2008JC. I personally can’t relate to the negative sentiment in earlier comments. Yes, it’s a bit more cumbersome to request PPR via form three days in advance, but it was quick and straightforward. The aerodrome manager is friendly and accommodating. The traffic pattern is spacious, but you must avoid overflying certain settlements. The local flight school has uploaded very helpful 360° videos for this; you can find them on YouTube by searching "Volten Albis Wings". On approach to Runway 27 you overfly tall trees. The best technique is to come in low over the last trees, then bring the power to idle and aim the nose a few meters before the runway threshold. Infrastructure and runway are in good condition; otherwise there isn’t much around the field.

Pfullendorf Airport (EDTP)

by Chris2025-04-10 00:00:00 UTC

I landed at Pfullendorf in April 2025 in a Tecnam P2008. Overall, a pleasant aerodrome with a well-maintained runway and friendly AFIS. Note: the restaurant will not reopen until 01 May 2025. In the meantime, you can use the restroom in the hangar.

Neuhausen Ob Eck Airport (EDSN)

by Chris2025-04-10 00:00:00 UTC

In April 2025, landed at Neuhausen ob Eck in a Tecnam P2008, inbound from Switzerland. The aerodrome was straightforward to approach, and the runway and taxiways were in good condition. Bonus points to the AFIS officer, who was very friendly and provided clear, straightforward assistance on the radio.

Buochs Airport (LSZC)

by Chris2021-03-31 00:00:00 UTC

For domestic flights, Buochs is on the pricey side but still reasonable. The approach is straightforward and the circuit is rather large. ATC accommodating and friendly. When landing on runway 06, a long landing is expected to minimize runway occupancy. C-Büro also very friendly, with coffee included. MTOM 630kg corresponded to a landing fee of CHF 33.20.

Freiburg I.Br. Airport (EDTF)

by Chris2020-02-08 00:00:00 UTC

Arrival from Switzerland. Customs pre-notification was handled expeditiously in advance by aerodrome operations. The aerodrome was easy to find, with a generous circuit. After landing, we were asked to park on the grass instead of the apron. The reception at the C-Büro was very friendly, and the landing fee for 630kg MTOM was very inexpensive (by Swiss standards).

Sion Airport (LSGS)

by Chris2019-09-22 00:00:00 UTC

Landed at Sion last week. Spectacular approach with professional ATC. After landing we requested the fuel truck on the handling frequency; it arrived promptly and refueled us courteously. The C office was friendly as well, and the landing fee of CHF 32.– is fine for a Piper Archer.

Wangen Lachen Airport (LSPV)

by Chris2019-09-01 00:00:00 UTC

Flew to Wangen-Lachen for a short trip two weeks ago. The airfield is always worth the visit, with a very nice approach. The landing fee of CHF 25 for a Piper Archer is perfectly reasonable. The only drawback was that the card payment terminal, as last year, was inoperative.

Langenthal Airport (LSPL)

by Chris2019-08-09 00:00:00 UTC

Yesterday I landed at Langenthal for the first time in a Tecnam 2008JC. At first the airfield looks like a factory when seen from Sector South, as it lies next to an industrial plant. However, if you look for the wooded hill with the antenna, you’ll find it just to the north. The runway is pleasant, and the landing fee was CHF 20.– up to MTOM 1000kg (no distinction between training and private).

Triengen Airport (LSPN)

by Chris2019-08-09 00:00:00 UTC

Yesterday, during transition training in a Tecnam P2008JC, landed here. The aerodrome is easy to find; the circuit is a bit unusual. The runway is asphalt and appears somewhat shorter than it actually is because it is narrower than usual. Landing fee for training was CHF 18.50.

Bern Belp Airport (LSZB)

by Chris2019-07-02 00:00:00 UTC

Landed in Bern today in a Piper Cadet. Approach overall uneventful with professional ATC. Landing fee, after the noise abatement course discount, was 32 francs for MTOW 1055 kg. Departure likewise uneventful with cooperative handling by ATC. Would gladly return.

Buttwil Airport (LSZU)

by Chris2019-04-02 00:00:00 UTC

Landed yesterday, on the last day of the winter closure. Prior to arrival, obtained permission by phone and asked about parking for visiting aircraft; everything was explained courteously. The approach takes some getting used to, as you have to fly very low along the trees. The grass runway was in good condition, with over 600 m length. Reception at the C-Büro was extremely friendly, and the landing fee of CHF 20 for a Piper Cadet (MTOM 1055kg) was reasonable.

Birrfeld Airport (LSZF)

by Chris2018-10-31 00:00:00 UTC

I visited Birrfeld for the first time today to get to know the airfield without the weekend traffic. The pilot briefing on the website proved very useful and noticeably eased joining via Sector West. The prominent reference points in the circuit were easy to identify, though the circuit is fairly tight. The reception at the C-Büro was extremely accommodating, and the landing fees are mid-range at CHF 21.-- for a Piper Cadet.

Biel Kappelen Airport (LSZP)

by Chris2018-09-02 00:00:00 UTC

Small but pleasant airfield south of Biel. The airfield itself is fairly hard to spot, as the hangars are obscured by trees when approaching from the north. The well‑maintained grass runway crosses a pedestrian path and therefore looks more like a meadow. The traffic pattern is unusual in shape but entirely manageable. The landing fee for training in the DR40 was very inexpensive at CHF 10.-. The landing fee is paid via the envelope system.
