Pilot Comments for LSPL
Chris
Yesterday I landed at Langenthal for the first time in a Tecnam 2008JC. At first the airfield looks like a factory when seen from Sector South, as it lies next to an industrial plant. However, if you look for the wooded hill with the antenna, you’ll find it just to the north. The runway is pleasant, and the landing fee was CHF 20.– up to MTOM 1000kg (no distinction between training and private).

LSPL operates as a private, PPR airfield with PPR arranged by phone at +41 62 922 50 72. The airfield features a concrete runway and generally well-maintained operating surfaces. The circuit includes additional curves for noise abatement, with north and south circuits assigned to operational direction; this may require an overflight above 3000 ft before joining. UL91 and Mogas are available, with both cars and aircraft refueling at the same pump. Facilities include WC and the Restaurant Flügerli directly at the field, contactable at +41 79 623 83 49; opening hours may vary with weather.
Landing fees are paid in cash (CHF), with no distinction between training and private flights: up to 1000 kg MTOW about CHF 20, above that about CHF 25. Example: landing fee about CHF 20. Customs is available with a surcharge of CHF 20 per movement.
The airfield is typically staffed on weekends in good weather; otherwise, landing fees are left in an envelope. Solothurn is accessible by car in under 30 minutes. The site is popular for leisure flights, including routes toward the Alps. Some administrative processes may be slow, and facilities such as the briefing room are basic without WiFi or heating. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
