Pilot Comments for LSZN
Chris
Landed at Hausen am Albis on 19.04.2025 in a Tecnam P2008JC. I personally can’t relate to the negative sentiment in earlier comments. Yes, it’s a bit more cumbersome to request PPR via form three days in advance, but it was quick and straightforward. The aerodrome manager is friendly and accommodating. The traffic pattern is spacious, but you must avoid overflying certain settlements. The local flight school has uploaded very helpful 360° videos for this; you can find them on YouTube by searching "Volten Albis Wings". On approach to Runway 27 you overfly tall trees. The best technique is to come in low over the last trees, then bring the power to idle and aim the nose a few meters before the runway threshold. Infrastructure and runway are in good condition; otherwise there isn’t much around the field.

Hausen am Albis (LSZN) requires PPR for all visiting aircraft, with requests made at least three days in advance via a form on the official website. Operators issue a PDF PPR approval by email, which must be carried during the visit. The airfield is classified as "Restricted," and an exemption is mandatory for non-based pilots; this process is enforced strictly. Customs clearance is not available for visiting aircraft.
The asphalt runway, taxiways, and parking areas are well maintained. There is also a grass runway for gliders. The circuit pattern must be flown precisely, with avoidance of certain settlements; local flight schools provide helpful 360° instructional videos online. Approach to runway 27 requires crossing high trees and a low approach before touchdown, while departure from 09 passes through a forest gap. Infrastructure is in good condition, but facilities are limited.
There is no restaurant on site; however, a self-service kiosk in the C-office offers drinks and snacks at low cost. Restaurants are accessible in the nearby village of Rifferswil, which can be reached on foot in 15–20 minutes, though the path is unsigned.
Landing fees for visitors are fixed at 25 CHF, with overnight parking costing 15 CHF. Example: landing fee about 25 CHF. Helicopters and twin-engine aircraft are not permitted.
Fuel may be available if a mechanic from SKYPARTS or an instructor from ALBISWINGS is present. No flight service officer is present except on weekends during glider operations. A campsite is located behind the hangar.
The airfield's access road has restricted vehicle entry. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
