Pilot Comments for EDSN
Chris
In April 2025, landed at Neuhausen ob Eck in a Tecnam P2008, inbound from Switzerland. The aerodrome was straightforward to approach, and the runway and taxiways were in good condition. Bonus points to the AFIS officer, who was very friendly and provided clear, straightforward assistance on the radio.

Neuhausen ob Eck (EDSN) is a large, former military airfield at 2600 ft elevation, notable as one of the highest in Germany of its size. The runway and taxiways are well maintained and in good condition. Operations are generally straightforward with little traffic, but landings and takeoffs require an active flight information service; without a flight information officer present, no landings or departures are permitted. The airfield is known for a friendly and helpful team, with positive feedback on service and radio assistance.
Fuel is available only with prior arrangement. There is a café with bakery at the former barracks gate, and a toilet on site. Tie-downs may be limited; bringing ground anchors is advised if needed. No on-field car hire or public transport details are reported. The Neuhausen Open Air Museum lies within walking distance (10–30 minutes), and the area offers scenic destinations.
The field can experience significant turbulence, especially in stronger winds and on the western side; careful operation is recommended, particularly for training flights. In circuit 27, avoid overflying the open-air museum.
Landing fees are low; Example: landing fee about €10. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
