Decent grass runway - however there is an atmosphere of "not welcoming guests" here. The fees for a grass runway are too high with 30 EUR and the greeting when arriving (both when flying in or just visiting the airfield land-side) can be a bit grumpy.
When we arrived by plane, I tried to follow all procedures as exact as possible. The pattern is quite narrow and I ended up going around after the first landing attempt. I had 3 PAX, one first-time flyer and didn't want to try any sketchy "rescue attempts" on short final. I would deem this as within the operational decision-making liberty of any pilot. However, first thing we heard on the ground was not "Welcome to Rerik" but a telling off for causing too much noise.

To add to the previous two reviews, as a pilot living in and flying out of Northern Germany, Rendsburg has become my go-to place to end many flying days by combining cheap and convenient fueling and a nice dinner at the restaurant/terrace.

Absolutely pragmatic procedures for an airport of this size (Spanish airport managers should come take a look). Pilots use the briefing room in the small terminal building to pay their (modest: 13 EUR for PA28) fees by self-service using a credit card terminal. When re-entering airside upon departure, you present your license and the payment receipt to a camera and the tower staff will let you in. Just be aware of insane AVGAS prices (ca. 6 EUR/liter last time I checked). Landside, it's most convenient to get a rental car upon prior reservation from one of the agents. Don't expect to walk up to the counter without a reservation, as they are often unmanned. Rental cars are on the expensive side, however in our cases so far wo get nice and tidy cars. There is a but network, but I don't usually find the timings frequent and convenient enough for day trips with some flexibility. If you just want to go go Ronne, both walking (about an hour) or a bus would be fine.

The experience here has unfortunately changed drastically compared to Achim's report from 4 years ago. There is now mandatory handling and the airport has drastically increased their fees. The handling fees are actually fine at ca. 50 EUR for our P28R at 1179 kg MTOW and I chatted with the guys from Join Jet, they say it's the airport management that want to outprice GA, not the handling companies here. The overall experience was 250 EUR for a day trip (plus the cost at Legoland in our case). On the plus side, Join Jet delivered us straight from the aircraft to the entrance of Legoland and picked us up there again within minutes after calling them. We also had a chance to use the nice lounge, which is a plus after a family day at an amusement park. However, I would still prefer the old pricing and no lounge. There seems to be actually AVGAS available, just not advertised. If needed, I would suggest you to check with JoinJet before your arrival.

Nice airfield in a nice area. Usually un-manned. Grass runway is a bit bumpy but still okay. Bicycles available. No fixed fees, but everyone is welcome to leave an adequate amount. Easy ride into the nice town, a bit sleepy. Camping on-site allowed, toilets available.
