Easy approach and quite straightforward communication with EKBI Tower Controller.
Handling is mandatory - you can choose between 3 FBOs (JoinJet, Blackbird, Air Alsie). Join Jet is for small GA the most economic (the others were up to 4 times more expensive) and also a really great FBO! They deliver you to the hotel and pick you up on demand. Free F&B in the lounge.
Prices for a weekend with a C-172 (VFR, 3pax, 2 nights):
- airport fee: 94EUR
- parking: 25EUR / day
- Pax fee: 27EUR / person
- Handling: 300EUR (50EUR during weekdays from 0800-1600LT)
- 25% Tax
Accomodation recommendation: The Lodge Billund - right next to legoland and lalandia, but without the usual Lego "surcharge" and with a really healthy breakfast

The experience here has unfortunately changed drastically compared to Achim's report from 4 years ago. There is now mandatory handling and the airport has drastically increased their fees. The handling fees are actually fine at ca. 50 EUR for our P28R at 1179 kg MTOW and I chatted with the guys from Join Jet, they say it's the airport management that want to outprice GA, not the handling companies here. The overall experience was 250 EUR for a day trip (plus the cost at Legoland in our case). On the plus side, Join Jet delivered us straight from the aircraft to the entrance of Legoland and picked us up there again within minutes after calling them. We also had a chance to use the nice lounge, which is a plus after a family day at an amusement park. However, I would still prefer the old pricing and no lounge. There seems to be actually AVGAS available, just not advertised. If needed, I would suggest you to check with JoinJet before your arrival.
Achim
Arrived IFR for 24 h with 3.4 t without prior notice. The GAT is staffed 24/7 and, if possible, would appreciate prior notification at briefing@bll.dk for better planning. The cost was 300 DKK. For an international passenger airport with this level of service, that’s sensational. Not ideal for refueling; for Jet A1 there is a hefty hook-up fee.
AirfieldBot
General aviation at Billund (EKBI) now requires PPR and handling, with handling agents such as JoinJet and Blackbird available. Handling is mandatory; JoinJet charges about €40, while Blackbird charges about €150. Airport fees are about €94, with an additional passenger departure fee of about €27 per departing passenger. Parking overnight costs about €25 per day. Total fees for a typical GA visit can reach around €280 or higher, depending on the number of passengers and services used.
Access to Legoland is convenient, with shuttle service from handling agents or a short walk (200–300 meters) from the GA terminal. Refuelling is self-service with credit card payment; Avgas is available but notably expensive compared to nearby airports. Facilities include a modern GA terminal, friendly staff, and efficient ATC. IFR and VFR operations are both supported; expect some airliner traffic and possible short waits at holding points.
Since April 2024, PPR is required for all GA flights, and fees have increased significantly compared to previous years. Handling is always required for non-commercial GA. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for current requirements.
