Mainbullau Airport (EDFU)

In summer 2026 I was there two more times, mainly for refueling. Always friendly; always a pleasure. 100LL has of course become more expensive since February; currently at 2,59€ but still quite good. Prices are always up to date at https://www.edfu.de/. You even get help with refueling. I always land on RWY 23 and depart on RWY 05. Food at the Fliegerei is always good and pleasant.

Since early 2026 they’ve had aggressive fuel pricing; in particular 100LL at 2,19€ is very well priced! In winter, however, the field is officially PPR even on weekends. That’s handled a bit awkwardly via a request through Vereinsflieger (of course you can also just call on the radio to see if someone is there, but if you want to be sure in advance, it’s done in writing). The runway is, as is well known, not very long, quite narrow, and rises noticeably toward 23. With heavy/fast aircraft, landing on RWY 05 is critical (hence northeasterly weather patterns are an issue) or, at the very least, it puts a lot of wear on brakes and tires. But most of the time you can take RWY 23 and hardly need to brake at all. For refueling the Flugleiter comes out. Very friendly. The hose is very short, so you generally have to park nose-in to the pump. As is known, EDFU has little to almost no hardstand on asphalt and the grass area is often soft, especially in the off-season. But a solution is always found. Payment for fuel and the landing fee (13 Euro for 1.2 to 2 tonnes) is in the tower. If it’s just about the landing fee, aerops also works. There is an electric tricycle available free of charge to ride down to Miltenberg. The restaurant remains one of the better airport eateries (note: closed from mid-February to mid-March). Departure can usually also be downhill on RWY 05. From March 2026 there will apparently be new FoB rules at the field, but an operations manager will likely still be required for refueling. Five stars for friendliness, service, the beautiful scenery and the fuel prices.

Made a brief fuel stop here earlier this year when 100LL was still 2.29 EUR per liter. The aerodrome sits on a plateau atop the mountain. The runway is relatively narrow and, as the previous report noted, it is also sloped. Otherwise straightforward. Happy to stop by again for fuel and a coffee.
