Biel Kappelen Airport (LSZP)

Still one of the most beautiful grass airfields in Switzerland. The runway and taxiways are in excellent condition and, even after rain, remain firm and fully usable. Very friendly and helpful people on the field. The Indian restaurant right on the airfield is highly recommended; be sure to try the food!

Small but pleasant airfield south of Biel. The airfield itself is fairly hard to spot, as the hangars are obscured by trees when approaching from the north. The well‑maintained grass runway crosses a pedestrian path and therefore looks more like a meadow. The traffic pattern is unusual in shape but entirely manageable. The landing fee for training in the DR40 was very inexpensive at CHF 10.-. The landing fee is paid via the envelope system.
