Pilot Comments for LIDT
Meff
LIDT-Trento, December 2025, good and convenient as always. If you're approaching from the north over the mountains with FLP and haven't been able to contact Padua Information over the Timmelsjoch or Reschenpass, the tower at LIDT requires you to report in by the time you reach Bolzano, even if you're not flying through the ATZ there. They would then report the arriving aircraft to Trento. This hasn't been the case before. Tower, refueling, restaurant, hotel, aviation museum – all top-notch as always and directly at the airport. German 600kg class landing fee: €15.
Lukas
always a nice place with very kind controllers. Avgas, Mogas, Jet A1 available on self-serve pumps. Tip: If you need to load more than 103 EUR of fuel tell the tower so that they unlock the pump (and you can pay with them directly afterwards)
Y.
For a short fuel stop on 3 Jun 2017, it was a good airfield. Approach was straightforward. Be advised: departure to the east quickly leads into high terrain. Radio contact with Padova Information and Bozen from the Brenner direction was almost not possible. Card payment was accepted; AVGAS €2.27/l.
AirfieldBot
Trento (LIDT) is a GA-friendly airport with no IFR procedures, offering straightforward VFR operations and no PPR or handling requirements for typical non-commercial flights. The airfield sits in a valley with scenic approaches; caution is advised for the local flight prohibition zone between N2 and N1 and possible rescue helicopter activity. Communication with Padova Information may be limited until close to Bozen due to terrain. The runway and taxiways are in excellent condition.
Self-service fueling is available for Avgas, Mogas, Jet A1, and Diesel. Payment at the pump can be made by credit card or cash, but some cards may have transaction limits or compatibility issues; the tower can unlock the pump or process payment directly if needed. Fuel prices are generally considered high. Landing fees are low, typically about €20 for landing, with overnight parking around €10–€20 per night. Example: landing and five nights parking about €50.
Facilities include a restaurant and bar on site, a small aviation museum (G. Caproni), and the Fly Bike hotel adjacent to the field (limited rooms). The restaurant is functional for short stops but not especially cozy; Wi-Fi is available in the restaurant area. No self-briefing facilities are present.
Ground transport to Trento city center is by taxi, costing about €15–€20 each way with a travel time of 7–15 minutes; taxis can be called from the tower or restaurant. Europcar Trento offers car hire delivery and pickup at LIDT for an extra charge.
The staff is consistently described as friendly, helpful, and English-speaking. No customs/immigration services are available. Overall, LIDT is well-suited as a stopover or destination for non-commercial GA flights seeking reliable service and easy access to Trento.
