Pilot Comments for GCLB
Timo
After all the forms were submitted, we received our PPR. On site everything was straightforward and everyone was very friendly. 4 nights parking and landing fee: 140 euros. Holiday Car (Playa Des Ingles) delivers the rental car to the airport.

The airfield is owned and operated by a large flight school called CANAVIA. It’s advised to reach out to them as PPR is required. If you’re on vacation, you can rent a cessna for island hopping - highly recommended!
The airfield is easy to find and procedures are very straightforward. On the approach expect some windshear. The runway itself is shaped like a hill, so depending on what direction you approach from, you may only see half of it on short final.
From the airfield, you can take a taxi to the nearest beach. There’s no gastronomy on site but a vending machine.

PPR is required, typically granted after submitting several documents. On arrival, handling is friendly and straightforward. Four nights parking plus landing fee totals about €140. Example: landing fee about €30. Avgas is available and considered inexpensive. Holiday Car delivers rental cars to the airfield. Taxi to Playa del Inglés costs around €10. Bus connections run along the coast between Maspalomas and Las Palmas, with a travel time of about 30 minutes to Maspalomas by bus or 10 minutes by car.
The airfield is managed by a flight school (Canavia). Contact: GCLB.Maspalomas@gmail.com, phone (+34) 828 903 845. Runway is around 800 meters, reportedly in excellent condition but features a kink after about 300 meters and a noticeable slope on runway 07. Expect turbulence and wind shear on short final for runway 07, especially from the land side; wind direction can vary along the runway. No customs facilities are available.
A mechanic is present for technical issues. No restaurant on site, but vending machines are available; karting is nearby. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM. The airfield is suitable for general aviation with friendly staff and practical amenities for visiting pilots.
