Civil Airfield Endelave (EKEL)

EKEL offers a well-maintained grass runway with no PPR required. The airfield is suitable for camping, with tents allowed under the wing or in a nearby grove, and features a kitchen, toilet, and warm shower inside the barn. Bikes are available for rent on site and function adequately for trips around the island or to the harbor. Landing fees can be paid in DKK or EUR, typically via self-service into a collection box. Example: landing fee about €15, camping about €5, bike rental about €5.

Facilities include sheltered picnic tables, cold or warm showers depending on occupancy, and a small kitchen with basic amenities. There is no fuel available. The airfield does not have an assigned frequency; use Danish air-to-air 129.8 MHz for blind calls during arrival and departure. Runway 29 has a displaced threshold marked by a large X in the first 60 meters to ensure safe clearance over an adjacent road; full length is available for takeoff.

The island’s main village is accessible by bike or on foot, offering limited accommodation options such as Endelave Kro and Endelave Flet Bed&Breakfast. Shops and restaurants are few but provide essentials; some accept cards. Bread can be pre-ordered at the local store or harbor, and local produce is available along village roads. Beaches are close to the airfield.
