The airfield is idyllically located on a plateau in the Schwarzwald and offers a family-style atmosphere with lively club operations by LSV Schwarzwald. Visiting pilots are very welcome; even on weekdays, a visit is usually straightforward (PPR).
With easterly wind as well as stronger westerly wind, turbulence is common on approach and departure. The runway is partially not visible on downwind; nevertheless, please adhere to the traffic pattern as precisely as possible for noise abatement.
The landing fee can be settled easily—either cash in an envelope in the mailbox at the tower, with the proprietor of the Italian airfield restaurant, or directly with the airfield manager. If you prefer, you can also settle your contribution for use of the airfield via the "aerops" app.
The restaurant, with its beautiful terrace, invites you to linger and offers a perfect opportunity to observe flight operations against the picturesque backdrop of the Hochschwarzwald.
No hangar space is available, but the aircraft can be parked outside overnight.

EDTW is a GA-friendly airfield in the Black Forest, popular for its scenic location and welcoming atmosphere. The airfield operates PPR on weekdays, with regular activity and club presence most days; weekends have published opening hours. Circuit visibility from the north or east can be limited due to terrain and forest; the airfield sits at 2200 ft elevation. Glider and club traffic is common, especially on weekends, but operations remain orderly.
