Dahlemer Binz Airport (EDKV)

EDKV is a quiet, rural airfield with a friendly and professional flight service. Approaches and departures are generally uncomplicated, though departures over runway 05 require an early turn before Schmidtheim, and the final for runway 23 is shortened due to a noise-sensitive village. When departing on 23, suitable forced landing fields are limited because of surrounding forest. There is significant glider and skydiving activity, especially on the northern grass strip; orange rotating beacons indicate active operations. On busy days, maintain vigilance for mixed traffic and follow circuit instructions carefully. A high-tension power line crosses near the field—be alert during approach and departure.

The paved runway is 1070 meters long with full lighting and PAPI. The airfield is well maintained, with clear circuit patterns and sufficient length for general aviation needs. Parking is available; hangar space can be arranged on request.

A well-regarded restaurant sits at the eastern end of the field, about 680 meters from the tower on foot; parking closer to the restaurant may be possible if arranged with the tower. The restaurant offers quality meals with fresh ingredients and a terrace overlooking the runway. On occasion, opening hours may vary or service may be limited, but food quality receives consistently positive remarks.

Landegebühren are considered low for current standards. Example: landing fee about €10.

Fuel (including Avgas) is available on site. The area offers opportunities for walking and hiking; a kart track is adjacent to the airfield and accessible by foot.

Public transport is reachable after a short walk to a nearby train station served by regional trains between Köln and Trier at two-hour intervals.
