Lienz Nikolsdorf Airport (LOKL)

LOKL operates Tuesday to Sunday and requires PPR. Approaches from the east onto runway 30 are manageable, with the runway visible from reporting point Echo. The airfield is situated in a mountain valley, so density altitude and start distance calculations are important; circuit and traffic management are active due to the narrow valley. The field is suitable for both VFR and IFR, with FPL opening and closing handled by staff.

Ground staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful. Hangar space is available, with overnight hangar parking about €10. Landing fees are medium; Example: landing fee about €20. Credit card payment is possible. Fuel is available on site. Bicycles and rental cars can be arranged, with advance notice recommended for car hire; shuttle service to local hotels is possible. Lienz city is 7–10 km away; walking is not practical, but taxis or hotel shuttles are available.

Facilities include a WC and vending machines for drinks; there is no on-field restaurant or café. The airfield offers scenic mountain views and serves as a good base for excursions in the region.
