Dobersberg (LOAB) is a small, friendly aerodrome near the Czech border, operated by a local aeroclub. The atmosphere is relaxed, with consistently positive feedback on the welcoming staff and efficient service. Drinks, snacks, and coffee are available on site, and self-briefing facilities for flight plan filing are present. Fuel (including SuperPlus) is available with assistance from staff.
The asphalt runway is well maintained; runway 12 is slightly uphill and runway 30 has a noticeable downslope. Both directions have relatively short final approaches but are manageable. Noise abatement is important—avoid direct overflights of nearby settlements as local residents are sensitive to noise. Out-of-hours landings are possible if pre-arranged, with an additional fee of about €30.
Parking is generally ample outdoors, though hangar space can be limited during gliding events. Tie-down points may not always be visible; pilots may need to inquire if needed. The airfield is situated in a scenic rural area with vacation opportunities and biking trails nearby. Taxis can be arranged but may require waiting due to the location.
Landing fees are moderate. Example: landing fee about €20; overnight hangar about €20. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for operational details.
