Pilot Comments for LIPE
Robbie
Flew into Bologna airport during a very busy Friday afternoon. Service from TAG was great, although if you haven't had passports stamped - expect lengthy waiting times as they have to travel from the terminal. Notify them via email that you'll need to be stamped in/out of the EU if transiting (I.e. via MPL) where they don't seem to care to stamp. Service 4.25 LDG+TO 7.40 Government Charge UE 7.40 Parking Fees - 10.56 All-inclusive facilities fee - 20.00 Stamp Tax 2.00 EUROs ^ Taxi to TAG-RELAIS BELLARIA HOTEL - 39.50 EUR 147.80 in total.

LIPE Bologna is accessible for general aviation with mandatory handling, typically arranged via TAG Bologna. PPR is required for GA and can be obtained easily by email, with flexible timing changes generally accommodated. Handling and parking fees for short stays under 2 tonnes are medium to high by Italian big-airport standards, with examples ranging from about €90 to €130 for 1–2 days including handling, landing, and parking; longer stays are possible and can be arranged in advance. Example: total charges about €130 for two days including standard handling, a passenger, and winter surcharge.
The modern GA terminal offers a large ramp and basic lounge facilities; staff are described as helpful. Avgas is available from Air BP on request, but fueling may require advance notice and up to 45 minutes due to aircraft repositioning. Payment for fuel and services is accepted by credit card or cash. Free WiFi is available in the GA terminal. Taxis to the city center cost about €20–€30 and can be ordered directly at the GAT; car rental desks are located in the main terminal, though some companies may deliver cars to the GA area if arranged.
Customs is available at the GAT without extra charge; passport stamping may involve delays if officers must come from the main terminal, so advance notice by email is recommended for non-Schengen flights. Procedures favor runway 12 for arrivals and runway 30 for departures but vary with wind; see AIP/NOTAM for details. All ground movements use Follow-Me vehicles, and apron access is controlled.
Overall, LIPE provides efficient access to Bologna with reliable handling and reasonable flexibility for non-commercial GA operations, though costs are higher than at smaller regional fields.
