Thessaloniki / Makedonia Airport (LGTS)

PPR is required and must be arranged through a handling agent; flexibility in changing PPR is possible. Handling is mandatory, with several agents available; AOPA members receive discounted handling rates, typically about €20–€30. Landing, handling, PPR, and parking fees combined can range from about €100 to €230 for several days, but higher totals are possible depending on agent and duration. AVGAS is not available. JET A1 is available from multiple suppliers. Fuel arrangements may require persistence with the handling agent; some agents are more helpful than others.

Customs and immigration are available on site. For international flights, customs officers and handlers come directly to the aircraft for checks and payment.

Ground transport options include a public bus to the city for a small fee and taxis costing around €15–€20 each way. The airport offers free Wi-Fi.

The airport is busy but straightforward to operate into under VFR or IFR. Procedures are generally efficient by local standards, though some bureaucracy is possible. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.

Overall, LGTS is suitable for non-commercial GA flights seeking an airport of entry in northern Greece, provided that handling and PPR requirements are met and AVGAS is not needed.
