Airport Besancon La Veze (LFQM) IFR

LFQM (Besançon La Vèze) offers both VFR and IFR operations, including RNP approaches and 24-hour access via pilot-controlled lighting. AFIS is available Monday to Friday during published hours; outside these times, radio communication must be in French. IFR departures and arrivals function smoothly, with little traffic except during parachuting activity, which occurs regularly. Landing fees for aircraft up to 2000 kg typically range from €10 to €20. Example: landing fee about €20. Fuel (Avgas and Jet) is available self-service with credit card payment; instructions are provided in English.

Facilities include toilets accessible via the aeroclub or parachute center when the terminal is closed. Drinks are available at the flying school; a restaurant ("Le Vézois") is within an 18-minute walk but closed on Mondays. No public transport serves the airport; UBER rides to Besançon city center take about 15 minutes and cost around €30. The Hotel Best Western Citadelle in town is recommended.

The main asphalt runway is long and in excellent condition, with PAPI/VASI guidance at 4° glide slope. Circuit procedures may require backtracking due to a single intersection to the apron. Noise-sensitive areas and strong thermals may be encountered on approach, especially over wooded areas or near populated zones—see AIP for recommended altitudes and routing.
