About 10 minutes’ flight north of Montpellier, scenically located at the foot of the Cévennes. Excellent airfield for a very quick fuel stop if you have a TOTAL card. The field is “ouvert à la CAP” (thus no PPR) and does not strictly require “FR-only” on the radio. The base leg for RWY 01 is flown very close-in to the field for noise abatement, so expect a short final, which is no issue thanks to the 1,400 m runway. It also has a slight bathtub profile (dip), which is easy on the brakes. This TOTAL pump (unlike most others) still does not accept standard credit cards, so you do need the TOTAL card here. Current price €2.36/l. No landing fee; you are simply asked to enter the flight in a register next to the fuel station. We couldn’t find a restroom right away, but managed otherwise. The field was not fenced.

LFMS is a quiet airfield situated in a forested area on a plateau, easily identifiable from the air. Operations are non-controlled with no flight information service; position reports are made as blind transmissions, preferably in French, though English is also used. The runway and taxiways are in good condition. No landing or parking fees apply. Avgas is available via an automated pump using a Total or AirTotal card. Facilities include toilets, a drinks vending machine, and a foosball table at the aeroclub, but the airfield is otherwise largely deserted with minimal passenger amenities. The site is fenced and locked for security. The nearest restaurant is about 300 meters on foot, and the town is further away; local taxi contact: +33 6 03 34 45 89. For accommodation, Le Mas du Figuier in Vézénobres is suggested (tel. +33 6 09 40 61 74). Occasional parachuting activity occurs. The airfield is suitable for general aviation stopovers and visits to local attractions such as the Bambouseraie park.
