Airport Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte (LFKJ) IFR

Ajaccio (LFKJ) requires PPR for all GA, typically via the myhandling website, which is described as complex and sometimes unreliable; email to casavia.aja@wanadoo.fr or ag.casavia@casavia.fr is possible, but responses may redirect to myhandling. For international arrivals, 48-hour advance notice to customs (ajaccio@douane.finances.gouv.fr) is recommended; customs officers are rarely present on site and procedures can be inconsistent, with occasional requests for GenDec forms even within Schengen. IFR and VFR arrivals are both supported; visual approaches along the bay are scenic but require attention to published procedures and possible circling to land on RWY 20. Slot coordination may apply for IFR departures.

Handling is compulsory for GA and included in most fee examples. Fees for landing, handling, and parking typically range from about €70 to €110 for 1–4 nights with single-engine piston aircraft since 2021; longer stays or higher MTOW can result in much higher charges, up to €620 for a week. AVGAS (100LL) is available self-service with BP card at the GA apron; technical issues occasionally disrupt supply, so confirm availability in advance if needed. Jet A1 is also available. Fuel can sometimes be paid by credit card if no BP card is held.

The GA apron is spacious with tie-downs; parking space can be limited in summer—advance reservation is advised. Facilities at the GA area are basic: a small office and toilets (sometimes described as substandard). The main terminal offers car rental desks and a delicatessen shop. Hotels “Fesch” and “Hotel du Golfe” are mentioned as good options in town.

Access between the GA apron and terminal/city is controlled; exit/entry is via a gate near car rentals, often requiring a call to Casavia (+33 4 95 23 56 11). Taxis to the city center cost about €20–30; the city shuttle bus stops about 150m from the GA gate but costs €10 per person and does not reach the old town directly—taxi is generally preferred. The city beach lies within a short walk of the airport.

ATC service is friendly and helpful; English proficiency varies among ground staff. The airport environment is scenic but surrounded by high terrain on three sides—study approach procedures carefully, especially for IFR arrivals or when RWY 20 is active (VPT approach or right base may be required). Overall, Ajaccio offers efficient operations for non-commercial GA with some administrative complexity around PPR and customs, moderate-to-high fees, reliable fuel when available, basic facilities, good ground transport options, and a scenic setting close to town and beaches.
