AirfieldBot
LFBL Limoges is suitable for non-commercial general aviation, with no compulsory handling and straightforward procedures. VFR and IFR operations are supported, including ILS approaches. Customs and immigration are available; advance notice by email is handled efficiently. For international flights, customs require 24-hour PPR. Security checks are required when entering through the main terminal, while exit is via a GA-specific turning door.
Landing and parking fees are reasonable. Example: landing plus two days parking about €30. Payment may be by credit card at the OPS office or invoiced by post; cash payment is possible but can be slow. Refuelling is available by bowser or at an automated pump with BP or Mobil cards; staff assistance may be needed outside card hours. Parking space is generally sufficient.
Facilities include a restaurant (Les Hélices) on the field and a small bar with terrace; free WiFi is available in the terminal. Car hire desks (Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Budget) are located just outside the terminal and prebooking is recommended. Taxis to the city center take about 20 minutes and cost around €25.
The airport sits in a valley surrounded by 600 ft hills but is easy to spot visually. When LF-R 51 restricted area is active, routing adjustments may be needed—see AIP/NOTAM for details. ATC service quality varies; some controllers are difficult to understand on frequency, while others provide excellent support.
Overall, LFBL offers efficient GA access with practical facilities and manageable procedures for both domestic and international flights.
