Airport Brac (LDSB) IFR

Brac (LDSB) is a GA-friendly airport on a plateau at 1770–1780 ft elevation, offering both VFR and IFR operations with RNP approaches. PPR is required for all arrivals, especially for parking, and must be arranged via email (ppr@airport-brac.hr or groundoperations@airport-brac.hr). The tower is often unstaffed; when closed, operations use blind calls. Split Radar provides approach and departure coordination, with handover to/from the airport close to the field. Procedures may vary; see AIP/NOTAM for current details. From June 1, parking reservations are mandatory.

Fees have increased but remain moderate compared to other Croatian airports. Handling is obligatory and included in the total bill, which also covers infrastructure and security charges. AOPA members receive a 25% discount on most fees (previously 50%). For typical GA aircraft, total charges for landing, handling, and short-term parking generally range from about €80 to €130 depending on duration and services. Example: landing and four hours’ parking about €80; six nights including taxi transfers about €190; three days’ stay about €90. Surcharges apply for extended airport opening hours (example: one-hour extension about €120). Payment by card is accepted.

AVGAS is reliably available at prices similar to other Croatian fields; refueling is quick and handled by attentive staff. Jet-A1 is also available. The apron offers ample parking space but can fill up during peak periods; aircraft may be parked in double rows.

Taxis to Bol cost around €30–€40 each way and can be paid together with airport fees; expect 15–35 minutes travel time depending on traffic and vehicle size. No car hire desks are located at the airport, but rental cars can be arranged in advance for delivery (+385 21 630 709). Some hotels in Bol offer pickup service if contacted directly. The walk down to Bol takes several hours due to the airport’s elevation and distance (10–15 km by road).

Facilities include a modern terminal with basic café service, clean restrooms, free WiFi (though coverage may be unreliable), and friendly staff who assist with all ground handling needs including tie-downs. Customs and immigration are available during published AD hours without prior notice for Schengen/EU flights; for non-Schengen flights, a General Declaration must be submitted by email as per AIP GEN 1.3.2.8.1.

Approaches over cliffs can be challenging in strong winds—expect turbulence or downdrafts on final for runway 03, which has a marked downslope; land long if needed. Density altitude can be high in summer; performance calculations are important.

Brac LDSB offers efficient service, reliable fuel stops, straightforward customs/immigration procedures, and scenic approaches—making it a practical alternative to busier regional airports for non-commercial GA pilots under 2 t MTOW.
