Civil Airfield Nida (EYNI)

Nida Airfield (EYNI) is located near the Russian border on the Curonian Spit and operates without restrictions related to its proximity to Russia. VFR operations are standard, with a requirement to file a flight plan for all flights, including domestic Lithuanian routes, due to the border location. The airfield has a 07/25 asphalt runway of 580–650 meters, with 500 meters usable when landing on 07 due to a displaced threshold and slight slope. Approaches from the north over Priekule are typical; for noise abatement, remain north of the field and avoid approaches from the south. Blind calls may be necessary as radio service can be limited; Bronius Zaronskis is the airfield manager, best contacted by SMS or email (nidaaero@gmail.com), with limited spoken English but better written communication. Security services can be arranged for around €60 per night; otherwise, the field is unfenced and open. No fuel is available at the airfield; Mogas can be sourced from Baltic Petroleum in town.

Facilities are minimal, limited to a toilet container on site. The walk to Nida town (Neringa) is about 2 km; e-scooters and other local transport options are available at the harbor for short-term rental. Accommodation in Nida includes several guesthouses and hotels, though availability can be tight during peak season and prices are generally high.

For ground transport, it is recommended to arrange taxis independently using Neringa Taxi (+37065218631). The terrace restaurant at Hotel Nerija offers dining options, though quality varies and good food in Nida can be hard to find.

Strict adherence to flight planning and border procedures is essential due to proximity to Kaliningrad; unauthorized entry into Russian airspace carries significant risk. Danger areas ULD-29 to ULD-33 may affect routing—consult AIP/NOTAM as needed.
