Kalmar Airport (ESMQ)

Kalmar (ESMQ) offers straightforward VFR and IFR operations with generally uncomplicated approaches. The airport uses a one-way gate or turnstile for exit, and re-entry requires escort by security staff. Parking is available on the apron, with payment handled at the information desk in the terminal. Multiple car rental companies operate in the terminal.

Fees are typically paid at the info desk; examples include a takeoff fee of SEK 250 and two nights’ parking on the apron for SEK 300. Another example: landing fee about 250 DKK. Taxi rides to the city center cost about €30, and a local bus stops directly in front of the terminal with a journey time of 15–20 minutes.

Opening hours vary and should be checked in advance; outside staffed hours, facilities may be inaccessible and exiting or re-entering the airport can be difficult. The airport has crossed runways, with runway 05/23 offering only about 650 meters usable length. Facilities include a self-briefing room with PC, internet, and printer, though reliability varies.
