Pilot Comments for EKLS
Leon
Really relaxed airfield. All calls are transmitted blind. There is a small hut where you can pay your landing fee (CASH EUR / DKK or via Bank transfer). Parking is on grass and can host aproximetly 6-7 normal sized GA Aircrafts. There is only 1 real taxi on the island so you might need to wait. If the weather is good you can also pick some bikes (for free) to ride to the city.
AirfieldBot
EKLS operates as a self-service airfield with no flight information service or staff present. Pilot Controlled Lighting is available via radio. The 900 m concrete runway is well maintained, and parking is on grass. Payment of landing fees is self-service, accepted in DKK, EUR, NOK, and SEK by cash, bank transfer, or Danish payment apps; Vipps is also accepted. Example: landing fee about €30. No fuel is available.
Bicycles are available for rent at the airport via laesoebike.dk using the Donkey Republic smartphone app; delivery to the airport is possible. Some bicycles may also be accessible in a hangar with codes requested by SMS at +45 40449478. An electric car can be arranged for delivery to the airfield (see on-site notice). The free island bus does not serve the airport directly. Byrum is about 3 km from the airfield and reachable by bicycle in 10–30 minutes depending on route and pace; Vesterø Havn is about 9 km away.
The island features quiet, uncrowded beaches and nature areas. In the south, observe nature reserves up to 1000 ft AGL and note a 600 ft obstacle in the southeast. The apron surface is uneven but without potholes; taxiing is straightforward. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for details.
For bicycle access codes: SMS +45 40449478.
