Pilot Comments for EHHV

As a homebase its quite a nice airfield to fly from with 3 runways. It is a sensitive airfield. When its has rained the field is soggy and can be limited to no touch&goes, only 2-seaters, only flight lessons and helicopters or only helicopters. There are gliders and sometimes skydiving in progress. The glider winch is usually next to the active runway on the other side of the circuit. Pay attention when runway 30/12 is active the circuit of the glider crosses at the west side of the airfield. Ground transportation is only possible by taxi.
The is no hangarage available. There are 2 maintaince shops available Maintain-A-Plane +3135582 3778 (no website) and Vliegschool Hilversum www.vliegschool-hilversum.nl

Hilversum again friendly, welcoming, and straightforward. Strong wind from 220; on the well‑maintained 25 no problem (a bit bumpy over the trees on short final). After rollout, just taxi back alongside the runway via the grass toward the Tower and take the assigned parking row.
Tower provides guidance, but personal responsibility is emphasized, and with attention and forethought everything works even with multiple aircraft active in the circuit.
Uber this time €60 each way to the southern city center (de Pijp).
€57 for landing and 2 nights is just about OK; Avgas at €3.50 is a bit pricey (plan an intermediate stop at EDLB).
Departure accordingly: observe, make clear calls, execute—works fine.
Dutch Mil again very helpful—proactively advising which areas are inactive.

Hilversum (EHHV) is a friendly, VFR-only grass airfield with three runways (six directions), each with its own circuit and joining point. Aircraft up to 6 tonnes are accepted. International arrivals from outside Schengen are possible with one hour prior notice by phone. The airfield is busy, especially in good weather, with active glider operations and occasional para dropping; careful circuit joining and attention to runway layout are essential. The grass runways and taxiways are generally well maintained but can become soft or boggy after heavy rain. Circuit altitude is 700 ft, and controlled airspace from a neighboring airport may start as low as 1200 ft AMSL on weekdays; multiple restricted areas nearby require careful preflight planning.
Landing fees for non-commercial GA typically range from about €15 to €60 depending on duration and services; overnight parking may be included or charged separately. Example: landing and two nights about €60; landing and overnight parking about €30; landing about €20. Payment is usually straightforward at the tower, sometimes by invoice. Avgas and Mogas are available via automated pumps accepting card payment.
Taxis to Amsterdam cost around €45–€60 per direction, to Utrecht about €50, and to Hilversum station or city center around €20–€23. From Hilversum station, frequent trains reach Amsterdam in about 30 minutes and Utrecht in 15 minutes. Cycling is popular, with Utrecht reachable in about 45 minutes by bike; bike rental options exist near Amsterdam Centraal.
On-field facilities include tie-downs with steel cables for wings and tail, a club area with coffee vending machines, and a restaurant (availability may vary). Camping is possible next to the airfield. Radio is conducted in English only; staff are described as helpful and efficient.
Noise abatement, glider activity on the dead side of runways, variable controlled airspace floors, and multiple restricted areas require careful review of AIP/NOTAMs before flight. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
