Pilot Comments for EGTK
Klaus
Yesterday we flew IFR from EDLN to EGTK and back. The preparation with GAR and PPR was a bit involved. We received vectors to the ILS 19. Everyone on site was very friendly. ATC kept giving us headings, which mostly matched the waypoints. Overall, uneventful flights. The landing fee for the 414 (2880 kg) was 207,60 GBP in total, equivalent to 239,30 €. The AVGAS truck came to the aircraft; we were able to pay with AirBP.

had to drop someone, went IFR, they still charged you for the approach even though the field was IFR and it wasn't training. So 35GBP landing fee + 31 GBP approach fee. ATC friendly but beware when you leave IFR they will leave you hanging dry and you'll have to workout your way through airspace and join. Was expecting hand over to farnborough, didn't happen, when I asked the reply was "You are on your own"

PPR is required and typically granted quickly. IFR arrivals and departures are possible, with ILS available only for runway 19; instrument approaches incur a separate fee. ATC is professional and radar-equipped, though the airport can be busy, sometimes requiring holds or extended ground times. Handling is mandatory, but no handling fees are currently charged; landing and parking fees are generally moderate. Example: landing fee about £40–£50, approach fee about £30, parking about £30 per night. Avgas and Jet A-1 are available by truck with prior arrangement; fueling is prompt.
The modern GA terminal offers a comfortable environment with amenities, though access to executive lounges may be restricted for GA visitors. Facilities include a pilots’ lounge and briefing room; free refreshments have been available at times but may not always be offered. Car rental (Enterprise) can be arranged on site, though service may require advance booking and wait times vary. Taxis to Oxford city center take 15–20 minutes and cost around £25; walking to the Premier Inn hotel takes about 10 minutes.
Hi-vis vests are required on the apron, and pilots typically walk themselves between aircraft and terminal. Power checks before departure are commonly done east of C3. When leaving airside, exit via the business terminal on the north side to pay fees. Public transport options are limited; taxis or ride-hailing services are recommended for city access.
Runway 19 exceeds 1500 meters in length. Some approach procedures may experience glidepath fluctuations within DME 1 of I-OXF; see AIP/NOTAM for details. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
