Great airfield. We rented survival suits there from Northfield Aviation for our North Atlantic crossing. Very friendly and helpful staff. ATC hours of operation are published via NOTAM. Due to staffing shortages, they take intermittent breaks throughout the day.

Wick (EGPC) is a well-established technical stop for transatlantic and northern routes, with efficient handling and refuelling provided by Far North Aviation. PPR is required, and high-visibility vests are mandatory. Out-of-hours landings and departures are possible with prior indemnity through HIAL; on Saturdays the airport is closed, but VFR departures remain possible without ATC, and IFR pickup can be arranged after departure with Scottish Control on 134.850. Only an NDB instrument approach is available, with procedural (non-radar) ATC service.

Far North Aviation offers fast refuelling—often with the bowser arriving immediately—and handles customs formalities, hotel bookings, flight plans, survival equipment rental, and crew transport to local hotels. Facilities include a briefing room, lounge, shower, toilets, and a basic café in the terminal. Parking is plentiful on a new concrete apron. Access to the landside terminal can be awkward; airside passes are required for re-entry and must be arranged through Far North Aviation.

Landing and parking fees for GA aircraft are typically in the medium range. Example: landing and parking about £60. Another example: landing plus overnight about £40. Handling fees have increased over time but remain competitive for the region.

The town of Wick is 15 minutes on foot from the airport; local restaurants and hotels are within walking distance or accessible via transport arranged by handlers. Wickers World café at the harbour serves food during the day.

Prevailing winds often create strong crosswinds on runway 13/31 due to frequent west/southwest winds; visibility over the sea may be reduced by haze but generally improves over land. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for operational details.
