Pilot Comments for EGHQ

Visited on Friday 13th - PPR over the phone required.
JetA1 tanker arrived 10 minutes after I had landed.
IFR slot arranged (No issues) - despite being late, was still given an ILS as booked.
Probably worth nothing in the Summer, lots of IFR departures (Airliners) go via DAWLY, so expect to be vectored in such a way that you don't conflict with these departures. Which adds track mileage.
Visited on the day of Boardmasters, so was very busy and had a long wait for taxis due to it being both Summer and a major event. Pre-book in advance is my best bet.

PPR request in advance via the Aeroclub’s website http://www.flynqy.co.uk/onlineppr/. On approach, ATC, with typically English courtesy, vectored us between inbound airline traffic, and after landing it was self-parking on the Aeroclub’s GA parking area with ample tie-downs. From there, a short walk (only with a hi-vis vest, as is customary in the UK) to the Aeroclub, where all fees are paid and any desired fuel uplift can be requested. Rental cars from Hertz and Europcar are just around the corner in the terminal. As already mentioned, an ideal airport for exploring Cornwall.
Landing fee for an AA5 just under €30, parking about €10 per night, and Avgas at €2.16/l.

"Which Approach do you require?" - Newquay Cornwall Airport is, also thanks to IFR procedures in uncontrolled airspace, a good and straightforward base to explore Cornwall!
As is usual at British aerodromes, a PPR call is mandatory. For light GA this is handled via the Flynqy flight school (phone number e.g. on their webpage; landing in summer possible until 1830 local, otherwise higher fees). The extremely friendly staff of the flight school also take care of fueling and booking out with ATC for departure.
Car rental providers are available in the main terminal, but often only with a reservation and limited opening hours. Other providers in town, e.g., Europcar.
Fees up to 2 t:
Landing 25 GBP;
Parking 4.80 GBP.

IFR and VFR operations are available, with IFR approaches and radar vectors routinely provided. PPR is required, typically arranged via Flynqy Flying Club (https://www.flynqy.co.uk/general-aviation, fly@flynqy.co.uk, Tel. 01637 861744), and handling is mandatory but included in the landing fee for GA. High-visibility vests are required on the apron, at least one per group. ATC is described as helpful and efficient, with straightforward procedures even during busy periods or major events.
Landing and parking fees for GA aircraft up to 2 t MTOW are generally medium, with examples ranging from about £35 to £70 for landing and parking combined. Example: landing and six nights’ parking about £70. Fees typically include handling; no separate handling agent is necessary for small GA when arranged through Flynqy. Payment of fees and fuel requests are handled at the flying club office.
AVGAS (100LL) and Jet A1 are available on site, with prompt refueling service reported. Parking is on dedicated GA stands with tie-downs; hangarage may exist but is not generally available short-term. Car rental is widely available at the terminal from several providers; advance reservation is recommended during busy periods or events. Walking from parking to the terminal or club office is standard; no shuttle bus currently operates.
Customs/immigration procedures require completion of an online arrival form via Flynqy’s website before entry. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful.
Newquay (EGHQ) offers reliable IFR access to Cornwall, good facilities for general aviation, and convenient ground transport options, making it a practical base for exploring the region.
