Civil Airfield Lee On Solent (EGHF)

PPR is required and can be arranged via the airport website, where all necessary information and forms are available. The airfield operates primarily VFR, but IFR arrivals and departures may be coordinated with Solent Radar. Special procedures apply due to Fleetlands ATZ and gliding activity; circuit and noise abatement procedures must be followed. The runway, taxiways, and grass parking are in excellent condition, with a resurfaced tarmac runway providing good grip. AFIS is competent, and the airport team is described as friendly and helpful.

Payment can be made on site; previously only cash was accepted, but current arrangements may vary. Fuel (Avgas) is available by prior arrangement, with staff able to refuel aircraft before departure if requested.

The airfield is within 5 minutes’ walk of Lee-on-Solent beach, which has several cafés and restaurants; Lee town centre is 20 minutes on foot. Taxis to Portsmouth cost around £50; taxi or Uber to Southampton costs about £30.

The airfield is adjacent to controlled and military airspace; pilots should review procedures and danger zones before arrival (see AIP/NOTAM). Gliding activity is common, requiring integration on arrival and departure.
