Civil Airfield Lerwick/Tingwall (EGET)

Tingwall (EGET) is a small airfield with a 764 metre hard runway equipped with PAPI and lighting, but no instrument approach. The field is situated in a sheltered valley about 10 minutes by car from Lerwick, with minimal traffic and only two resident aircraft. Scottish Control (Sumburgh Radar) provides vectors and procedural service to VFR traffic; including Sumburgh in your flight plan address list is requested. In marginal weather, maintain the centreline due to wind farms on surrounding hills up to 500 feet, and keep circuits tight.

AVGAS is available, though supply is limited and primarily intended for local Islander operations; fuel must be paid for at the airline office, and there is an additional tanking fee per refuelling. Example: landing fee about £20; overnight parking may be free or about £10. Only two or three outdoor parking spots are available. A small waiting room hut with a vending machine is present but only accessible during scheduled Fair Isle flights.

Transport to Lerwick requires a taxi or similar arrangement; ATC can assist or use 01595 694617 or 692080. Bolts Car Hire offers free pickup from the airfield if "Tingwall" is specified when booking. The Herrislea House Hotel is located one mile from the airport, with further accommodation options in Lerwick.

A HIAL Out of Hours Permit is required for operations outside standard hours and should be arranged at least 72 hours in advance. The airport staff are welcoming and helpful across all services.
