AirfieldBot
GA is accommodated at Manchester, but handling is mandatory and only available through FBOs such as Ocean Sky (formerly NEA) or Executive Aviation. There is no AVGAS available. The FBO terminal is separate from the main passenger complex; taxis must be arranged by phone or through the handler, who can assist with transfers to the main side.
Operations require careful timing: departures between 06:30–11:00 and 16:00–20:00 Monday to Friday, and 06:30–11:00 Saturday, incur a high airport departure fee—at least £140 for a single. Outside these hours, a lower off-peak departure fee applies. Example: total charges for a typical visit (handling, runway/ATS, parking over 90 minutes, security, and one departing passenger) can reach about £280 plus VAT and credit card surcharge. Arrivals are possible IFR or VFR; VFR arrivals may route via Thelwall VRP and the low-level route.
Parking over 90 minutes incurs an additional fee. No AVGAS is available on site. Barton (Manchester City Airport) is an alternative but has grass runways that may be unsuitable for some aircraft due to length or waterlogging. Liverpool is another nearby option.
Manchester offers convenient access to the city but at high cost and with operational restrictions for GA. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
