Pilot Comments for EDTM
Tobias
Nice aerodrome with IFR procedures. Easy access, parking on the asphalt apron right in front of the tower and the restaurant. Snacks, drinks, and coffee available in the briefing room.
Chris
Friendly airfield, at least Jet and Avgas. 2 landings, overnight parking, and customs in and out from Switzerland EUR 35 for a DA40.
Restaurant at the airfield. RNAV to Rwy 27 available.
Only negative is that customs needs 3h notice

EDTM offers a long, well-maintained asphalt runway with straightforward VFR and IFR procedures, including RNAV(GPS) approaches. The airfield emphasizes addressing radio calls to "Information" due to its IFR status. There is no right-hand circuit; circuit procedures are as per the AIP, and pilots should be prepared for occasional special events or night flying opportunities. A noise certificate should be available on arrival.
Fees are generally moderate. Example: landing and one night parking about €20. Additional surcharges apply for IFR approaches.
Facilities include self-serve fueling (Mogas 98, Avgas, JetA) with payment by card or cash at the ARO. Parking is ample, and tie-downs are available. The on-field hotel offers clean, modern rooms and breakfast but does not serve other meals. The airport restaurant is open and serves good quality food with friendly service.
Ground transport options include car hire and taxis; walking to Mengen town takes about 20–40 minutes.
Customs can be arranged for flights to and from Switzerland; advance notice may be required—see AIP/NOTAM for details. Overall, EDTM is well-suited for non-commercial general aviation operations, offering reliable services and a welcoming atmosphere.
