Airport Friedrichshafen (EDNY) IFR

EDNY (Friedrichshafen) is a regional airport with full IFR and VFR capability, controlled approaches (often via Swiss radar), and professional ATC. PPR is generally required on weekdays, but not on weekends; slot procedures and surcharges apply during major events such as the Aero show, where handling can be complex and parking may be on grass or distant aprons. Fuel is available by truck (Shell/Avgas), but payment may require returning to the terminal unless using a Shell card; delays for fueling are possible when busy. Ground transport options are excellent: train and bus stops are directly at the terminal with frequent service to city center and lakeshore; taxis may have long waits during peak times. Hotels such as Ibis are within 100 m walking distance.

Security procedures are thorough and can be time-consuming, especially on departure or when coinciding with airline traffic; expect full checks similar to commercial passengers. Always carry license and ID for security clearance.
