AirfieldBot
EDRO is a picturesque airfield located directly on the French border, surrounded by meadows and forests. PPR is required, with requests possible via the website; prompt and friendly responses are typical. The grass runway is well maintained and suitable for a range of general aviation aircraft. Circuit adherence is important due to nearby residents, especially during arrival and departure. Parachute operations occur frequently, so vigilance for jump activity is necessary.
On-field facilities include a seasonal weekend restaurant offering Flammkuchen and homemade cakes when weather permits. Free loaner bicycles are available, making it easy to explore the area or reach Wissembourg in 20 minutes by bike or about 30–50 minutes on foot. The train to Wissembourg stops approximately 300 meters from the airfield and takes about 5 minutes; it runs hourly on weekends. The surrounding region offers scenic cycling routes and easy access to French cuisine and culture.
Landing fees are low. Example: landing fee about €10. Fuel (Mogas) availability has been mentioned but may vary; check locally for current options. The airfield atmosphere is welcoming, with helpful staff and a relaxed environment suited for leisure flights and cross-border excursions.
Strictly observe circuit procedures due to noise sensitivity, particularly when approaching runway 08 from Wissembourg. Procedures may vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
