EDQG offers both VFR and IFR operations, with IFR procedures available and RNP approaches coordinated efficiently. IFR departures without a Z-plan incur an additional €70 fee. PPR is required for IFR operations, and outside published hours, a short call suffices for O/R slots; procedures may vary, so see AIP/NOTAM. ATC and ground staff are consistently described as friendly, professional, and helpful. The airfield features a long, wide runway with ample parking space.
Landing fees are low to moderate. Example: landing with two nights’ parking about €30; another example: landing about €20. Fees are higher without noise protection. Fuel (JetA1 and Avgas) is generally available at competitive prices, though temporary interruptions may occur due to fuel contamination.
Facilities include a comfortable lounge, briefing room with necessary equipment, free Wi-Fi, and coffee in the waiting area. No on-field restaurant or café is present; however, the Gasthof Lutz in the nearby town is recommended for meals. The walk to town takes about 50 minutes; staff sometimes offer rides by car or Trabant, but this is not guaranteed. No rental cars, bicycles, or public transport are available at the airfield.
Customs and immigration can be arranged with advance notice; passport checks are performed by local police or AFIS staff after data submission at least two hours prior to arrival. The process may take around 15 minutes.
The airfield is suitable for training flights and offers a relaxed atmosphere with helpful club members. The large runway and open surroundings provide good conditions for various maneuvers. Overall, EDQG is well-suited for general aviation pilots seeking friendly service and straightforward operations but offers limited ground transport options.
