AirfieldBot
EDOI offers a long, well-maintained grass runway and generally straightforward approaches, with a circuit that is tight but manageable. The airfield is known for its friendly, helpful staff and relaxed atmosphere. Radio procedures are concise and effective, though range can be short and blind transmissions are standard; adding “Bienenfarm” to calls helps avoid frequency confusion with a nearby field. The runway and taxiways are mostly in excellent condition, though some sections may be slightly uneven—slow taxiing is recommended, especially for aircraft with low propeller clearance.
A large hangar houses classic and vintage aircraft, and maintenance assistance is available on site or via connections to nearby facilities. Parking is ample, and hangar space is generally available. The on-field restaurant offers a broad menu and solid quality, with a terrace overlooking the apron; at peak times, expect some wait. Self-service may occur occasionally. Special events like Wednesday after-work fly-ins feature grilled food from 16:00; landing fees are waived during these events after 16:00.
Transport to Berlin is convenient: staff often arrange rides to Paulinenaue station (5–10 minutes by car), from which trains run hourly to central Berlin in about 30–45 minutes. Shuttle service to the station is commonly provided. Accommodation is available on the field.
Fees are described as moderate or reasonable. Example: landing fee about €10. Payment is handled via AeroPS, with a 50% discount from the third landing onward regardless of purpose.
Noise-sensitive areas exist due to local birdlife (notably birds of prey on or near the runway), so vigilance during taxi and takeoff is advised. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
EDOI is well-suited for non-commercial general aviation visits, day trips, or as a base for Berlin access, combining strong service with an appealing setting for pilots and visitors alike.
