Nice aerodrome with a control zone (no security-restricted area). ILS/RNP to runway 25; in the reciprocal direction RNP only. ATC very relaxed and flexible. Always great how the controllers pack mixed VFR traffic tightly and without fuss. Fueling with AirBP card; landing fee within the usual range. App2Drive on site; bus/taxi rather difficult. High-visibility vests are mandatory—observe the requirement even if others don’t. ;)

We were there over the weekend VFR with a Mooney M20 from Switzerland. Handling at the aerodrome was expeditious and friendly. Landing fee (Noise Class B) approx €18; parking per day (partial days count) approx €7. Total €32.25. Public transport connection unfortunately poor on weekends; Mon–Fri it’s about a 1 km walk to a bus directly to the city center. Taxi back from the main station cost around €20. No food service on the field, except possibly at the gliding club.

Augsburg (EDMA) is a well-equipped, GA-friendly airport with both IFR and VFR procedures, including ILS approaches. ATC and ground staff are generally described as professional and helpful, though individual experiences with controllers vary. IFR arrivals may incur a supplement to the landing fee. Parking is plentiful, with overnight rates for single-engine aircraft about €10 per night; longer-term parking applies after a few hours. Hangar space is available but not always guaranteed even with prior arrangement.

The airfield hosts car rental desks (Sixt, Europcar, Hertz), but cars may need to be pre-booked or accessed via app-based services like app2drive, which reliably station vehicles on site. Taxis to Augsburg city cost around €20 and take 5–10 minutes; to Munich city center expect 45–60 minutes by car or taxi (costs vary widely). Augsburg main station is 10 km away with fast train connections to Munich in about 35 minutes.
Customs are available on site without advance notice required for most GA flights. Fuel (100LL) is always available; BP card accepted. Access to the apron is via the terminal only, resulting in relatively long walks to parked aircraft.
Public transport access is limited; bus service exists but schedules may be inconvenient outside weekdays. Procedures for circuit entry and IFR slots are standard; see AIP/NOTAM for details. The airport maintains high operational standards and is suitable for non-commercial GA operations under 2 t MTOW without special restrictions.
Augsburg offers efficient handling, reasonable fees, reliable customs, maintenance support, car hire options on site, and easy access to both Augsburg city and Munich by road or rail.
