Pilot Comments for EDEL
D.
Small, friendly grass airfield with typical club operations. During my visit the runway was mowed short, adequately smooth, and noticeably longer than published in the AIP. Very nice people; no landing fee, and they didn’t even ask for a donation to the coffee fund; instead, you’re encouraged to give the club restaurant some business. I couldn’t do that due to time constraints, but I’ll make up for it on my next visit. Will gladly come back!

No landing fee. Grass runway generally in good condition, though sometimes described as bumpy and visually hard to identify until late on final. The runway is physically longer than published in the AIP, with estimates up to 800 meters. For runway 01, maintain at least 30 meters height over the adjacent dam on approach; construction cranes have been present but do not significantly obstruct. No fixed opening hours, but typically open on fine summer weekends; circuit flying is permitted except Sundays from 13:00 to 15:00. Fuel available, cash payment only; the fuel station is on the opposite side of the dike from parking and hangars, requiring crossing on foot. The airfield restaurant offers simple, very inexpensive meals and is open mainly on weekends. Langenlonsheim is about two kilometers away; Bingen and Bad Kreuznach are within 7–9 kilometers. After heavy rain, check for water levels as parking and runway areas may be affected.
