Last update 2020-07-09: Slot required for the flight plan (as a coordinated Level 3 airport); brief phone call with airport coordination available 24/7 https://fluko.org.

IFR arrival/departure without issues, short taxi from midfield to Apron 2. Parking with Follow-Me, which also takes you the few meters to the GAT.

GAT with a crew lounge including free cold drinks, kitchen, etc., well equipped. Staff very friendly and helpful. Security screening as required at all airports, but fast and a short walk. PAX list (sheet in the older comments below) required under EU regulation as at other aerodromes (e.g., Graz), but reportedly disposed of in the evening.

Price list for GA not published by either the airport or the FBO Kurz Aviation Service. On request, Kurz AS will email a price list to: ops@bac-stuttgart.com. Example Grumman Cheetah AA5 (999 kg MTOM) with 1 crew + 1 PAX:
Landing and take-off 33,30€ each;
1 PAX landing/departure 5,23€ each;
1 PAX security charge departure 1,44€;
Operation/Terminal Fee ("GAT fee") 29€ =>
Total 124,70€ for just under 1 hour on the ground.
Training flights cost half.

Prior notification by email to FBO Kurz with noise certificate or noise classification (N-Reg) to speed up a quick turn-around. The email existed in hard copy, but its content was not known. On arrival the invoice could not be settled directly, given the direct departure in a few minutes (only a short refreshment stop). At departure the invoice still wasn’t ready, although previously 3 people were behind the counter. Entering all data manually instead of copy&paste took 10 minutes, which then eats into TOBT. Under time pressure you’ll probably need to push the staff more here, even though the information had been provided in advance. The sluggishness in invoicing and the overall high fees reduce the otherwise very good performance to 3 stars.

Approach was very relaxed with a dedicated tower frequency for VFR traffic and we were expertly sequenced between the heavies.
On the ground we were greeted courteously and then driven to the terminal at record speed, as we were heading to the trade fair.
On the way back we could call the GAT and were picked up at the terminal to save the 30-minute walk.
Invoice processing was a bit sluggish (the aircraft had to be created in the system) and the fees were, as expected, on the higher side.
€13.50 for landing and another €13.50 for takeoff. Pax cost €5.23 inbound and another €5.23 outbound. Plus a €1.44 security fee.
Then €7.87 parking fee for one day (free under 1 hour) and a €22.50 apron charge.
All amounts were net prices for an AA5 with MTOW 1089 kg. The total on the invoice was €82.43 gross.
On departure, ATC again did everything possible to fit VFR arrivals and departures between the IFR traffic.

Stuttgart (EDDS) is a fully coordinated international airport with both VFR and IFR operations. IFR flights require a slot, which can be arranged quickly by phone with airport coordination or AIS; VFR slots are not required. For aircraft up to 2 t MTOW, handling is generally mandatory via Kurz Aviation, and advance registration is expected. Failure to pre-register with Kurz results in double handling fees. Bureaucratic procedures include online requests and slot coordination, especially for IFR.

Fees for non-commercial GA are high compared to other airports. For aircraft under 2 t MTOW, total charges for landing, short-term parking, and mandatory handling typically range from about €120 to €150 for brief stays; longer parking and additional passengers increase costs significantly. Example: total charges about €120–€150 for landing, short-term parking, and handling. Parking beyond a few hours incurs additional fees (around €10 per day). For larger or heavier aircraft, fees rise steeply; examples include about €500 for 2.3 t with 8 hours parking and over €700 for heavier twins. Optional handling elements can be declined by notifying ground on arrival (with restrictions), but most services are bundled and difficult to avoid.

The GAT offers crew lounges with complimentary drinks and kitchen facilities; however, there is no dedicated restaurant or café in the GA area—food options are available in the main terminal, which is a 15–25 minute walk or a short taxi ride from the GAT. Shuttle service between the GAT and main terminal may be available on request but is not always prompt or guaranteed; walking distances can be significant. Access to rental cars or public transport from the GAT is inconvenient and may take up to an hour from landing to car pickup.

Security procedures are strict: pilots often cannot bring liquids through the GAT security checkpoint unless using the crew-only checkpoint in the main terminal (not available for passengers). All users undergo standard passenger-style screening; bringing own tie-down straps is recommended due to limited GA parking infrastructure.

Service by ATC and ground staff is consistently described as professional, friendly, and efficient. Fuel (Avgas/Jet A) is available via Air BP with various payment options.

For PPR (especially ultralights), contact +49 711 9483586. For fee schedules or operational questions: ops@bac-stuttgart.com.

Overall, Stuttgart offers professional service but at high cost and with notable administrative complexity; suitability depends on willingness to accept these trade-offs.
