Pilot Comments for EDBO
Thomas
I regularly practiced my approaches at Oehna when I was a PPL student. Very nice, friendly airfield with an asphalt runway and night operations by prior arrangement. Straightforward approach. Small taxiway, parking on grass. Affordable landing fees; AVGAS 100LL and MOGAS available.
The cafe/restaurant "Stolpervogel" is a bit retro, but offers very tasty homemade cake and other dishes—highly recommended and very fairly priced.
The airfield can be reached from Berlin in about an hour by RegionalExpress; the train station is within walking distance.
All in all, highly recommended, especially for training.

EDBO is a friendly, well-maintained airfield with flexible and helpful staff. The airfield is suitable for NVFR operations, and night flying is possible by arrangement; circuit training at night is not available. Approaches are straightforward, and AvGas is available. MOGas is also available for ULs, with a specific circuit procedure for these aircraft.
A café operates during airfield hours, offering snacks and meals; the restaurant "Stolpervogel" is frequently praised for its quality and value. Accommodation options include simple rooms, bungalows, and direct on-field lodging, with breakfast available even before regular restaurant hours. Facilities include a playground, summer terrace, pool, and free bicycle loan for exploring the area. Maintenance services are present on the field.
Parking options include grass and hangar stands. Example: two landings plus two nights parking about €50; single landing fees range from about €10 to €20; overnight parking about €20 per night. The airfield is accessible by RegionalExpress train in about one hour from Berlin, with the station within walking distance.
The environment is quiet when no flying activity occurs. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for details. EDBO offers a welcoming atmosphere and a range of services suitable for general aviation pilots seeking a relaxed stopover or base near Berlin.
