Eberswalde Finow Airport (EDAV)

EDAV offers consistently outstanding service, with highly professional, friendly, and helpful staff. ATC and ground personnel are praised for excellent organization and communication. The airfield is easy to spot due to large adjacent solar fields, though these can cause some turbulence on approach; the circuit over forest may also be turbulent. The long, wide runway provides comfortable operations, but only one taxiway entrance is active for Piste 28, requiring a full backtrack for Vorfeld 1. In case of engine failure after takeoff in either direction, the surrounding forest presents a critical situation.

All fuel types are available: Avgas (100LL), Mogas (Super 98/Super Plus), and Jet A1. Refueling is efficient, with staff often waiting at the pump. Landing is free when refueling at the airfield. Example: landing fee about €20. Shelter hangars are available and frequently used for overnight stays; hangar plus landing combined is about €40 per night. Parking and hangar arrangements are flexible and well supported by staff.

A small restaurant or café offers coffee, cake, and traditional food; opening times can vary but alternative arrangements are often made by staff if closed. The airfield provides assistance with taxis (about €30 to town), rental cars (often Europcar), hotel bookings, and even personal transport to accommodations when needed. Both Eberswalde and Finow are accessible by bicycle from the field; Berlin Hauptbahnhof is reachable in about 35 minutes by train from Eberswalde station.

The field features unique Cold War-era MiG shelters, some used for aircraft parking or as part of an on-site aviation museum. UL charter and flight training are available through Lift Flugsport.
