Bautzen Airport (EDAB)

EDAB features a large, wide runway with straightforward approaches and professional radio service. RNP approaches are available. In winter, the airfield closes at 16:00 local time, with PPR required outside these hours; PPR requests may be declined depending on aircraft and staffing. The tower is located in a bunker, and the asphalt runway surface is somewhat rough but usable.

Fuel is available, with refueling located east of the tower on taxiway E. Aerops payment is supported. Facilities are basic: there is no on-field restaurant or café, and pilots should bring their own refreshments; coffee may be available from staff. Toilets are present in the bunker. Parking is generally on grass, which may be uneven in places. Car hire can be arranged to the tower, and taxis can be ordered via radio or staff assistance; expect variable waiting times for taxis to Bautzen, with reported fares ranging from about €10 to €20.

The staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, often going out of their way to assist visitors. The local ultralight club is supportive. The city of Bautzen offers an attractive old town and pedestrian zone within easy reach by taxi.
