Pilot Comments for LZKZ

There is an aero club here, but because of our time of arrival - we would have to use the main GAT which was fairly small. We would land here for a few nights and it was pretty expensive for parking, presumably because they had only two stands and we would use one for 48 hours. I couldn't get to Slovakia any faster than this so this is a problem unless you arrive within the hours of the aeroclub.

Kosice airport offers professional ATC and friendly staff, with a small GA terminal providing free WLAN, coffee, tea, and basic amenities. VFR arrivals are straightforward, with direct approaches possible; communication is clear and supportive. GA parking is on Apron 2, but only 2–4 stands are available, so advance notice is advisable. Parking space limitations can lead to higher fees and limited availability outside aeroclub hours.
Fees are notably high for general aviation. Example: landing about €34, parking about €64, handling about €40. No AOPA discounts are available. Some reports mention additional surcharges if no company name is provided. Contacting the Kosice Aeroclub may offer alternative parking or AVGAS100LL refueling options; Ivan Volosin +421 903 452 832.
Taxis to the city arrive quickly; typical fares are around €20. Bus line 23 runs every 30 minutes for €1 per person. No tie-downs are provided on paved stands, and parking in grass areas is not allowed.
Facilities include drinks and basic refreshments at the terminal; a museum with old military aircraft is nearby. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for operational details.
